30 international players did not vote for messi
The Barcelona star secured his fifth Ballon d'Or
after a stellar 12 months in 2015, but a host of
big name stars failed to include him in their top
three players of the year
Lionel Messi may have romped home in the
Ballon d'Or voting to be named the planet's best
player for the fifth time, but he clearly was not
every voter's cup of tea.
As many as 30 international captains failed to
name Messi as one of their top three players of
2015, with some of the biggest names in
football leaving the Barcelona star out.
Fellow nominee Cristiano Ronaldo
unsurprisingly missed off the Argentina
international, though Messi did repay the favour
by opting to choose three of his Barca team-
mates over the Portugal skipper.
Elsewhere, Ronaldo's club-mate James
Rodriguez, Bayern Munich striker Robert
Lewandowski and Manchester United midfielder
Bastian Schweinsteiger felt three players fared
better in the last 12 months than Messi.
So it seems that even after dominating the
world game for so long, the 28-year-old still has
some doubters to win over.
Selected players who DIDN't vote for Messi:
Mile Jedinak (Australia), Christian Fuchs
(Austria), Stephane Mbia (Cameroon), Bastian
Schweinsteiger (Germany), Michael Mifsud
(Malta), Chris Wood (New Zealand), Per Ciljan
Skelbred (Norway), Robert Lewandowski
(Poland), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Scott
Brown (Scotland), Diego Godin (Uruguay).
