Stoner Says He Has No Intention Of Racing In 2016

Two- time MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner insists he has no intentions of racing in 2016.

Stoner competed in the official pre-season test at the Sepang circuit for Ducati on Tuesday and posted the ninth best time of the day.

The Australian will work as a test rider for the Italian manufacturer this season, and they hinted he may be involved in some races as a wildcard.

However, when asked if he would race in 2016, Stoner told reporters: "No. I have no intention of doing that.

"It was nice to be back on track to get the data, but
I'm still going to enjoy watching from the side of the track rather than being involved."

Stoner said he enjoyed getting back on track with the 2015 spec Ducati.
"It was nice to be back on track at the same time as the other riders, more just for the fact that the track wasn't dirty and we had the same conditions as everyone else," the 30-year-old said.

"So we're getting the same feedback as the other
guys in the team, and this is important for us to move the bike forward."

Stoner will be back in action on Wednesday for the
final day of the Sepang test but said he was not sure when he would be able to ride the newest Ducati model.

"There's no plan at the moment," he revealed. "We
don't want to over-complicate things, and the [race] riders want to do their testing with it first.

"Maybe I'll get an opportunity to ride it in the future, but at the moment it's better to learn, to get
accustomed with everything.
"Then, when we feel we can't do too much more with the GP15, maybe we will progress to the next version. But there's a lot of time between now and then."
