Osun- Osogbo festival begins on Monday

The Osun -Osogbo Festival 2016 will start on Monday, Aug. 8 , with traditional cleansing “Iwopopo .”

This is contained in a statement by Permanent Secretary , Ministry of Information, Home Affairs , Tourism and Culture , Osun , Mrs Olajumoke Bello , in Osogbo on Saturday.

Bello enjoined all residents of the state capital , Osogbo , to conduct themselves well.

Bello stated that the governor wished worshippers, visitors and tourists from all walks of life an interesting stay and fulfilling experience .

“Gov. Rauf Aregbesola felicitates with Ataoja of Osogboland, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, Larooye ll , chiefs , Osun worshippers, sons and daughters of Osogbo on the occasion of 2016 Osun -Osogbo festival.’’

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ), reports that the festival is a yearly tourism event , recognised by the United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organisation
