Fourteen oil workers kidnapped in Rivers

14 workers of Nestoil were on Friday abducted by gunmen in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, reports Vanguard.

The incident occurred around Omoku-Elele link road when the workers were accosted by the gunmen in the company’s bus which was conveying them to the office.

The oil workers had gone to work somewhere in Obrikom, Omoku and they were on their way back to Port Harcourt when they were intercepted by unknown gunmen, reports Punch.

The coaster bus of the oil workers, it was gathered, was diverted to an unknown destination under heavy gunfire by the gunmen.

The hoodlums had ordered the driver to drive the vehicle to an unidentified place, where the workers were marched into the bush.
The Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the development, noting that the police were on top of the situation.
